You’ve seen them in your Sunday papers, now here they are on the Web!! They’re fairly simple; it’s just a matter of figuring out which letter represents which.
Since many people aren’t familiar with cryptograms, I’ve made this batch easy to solve. The same code is used in all six quotes. In other words, if the letter "T" represents the letter "E" in one quote, it represents the letter "E" in every quote. Of course, that’s not saying it actually does. : )
Here are some solving hints:
1) Keep your eyes open for the "THE" pattern. If you can determine it, you can figure out words like "THAT," "THERE," "THEIR," "THEY’RE," and the phrase "THERE ARE."
2) The word "PEOPLE" is a dead giveaway because there are a pair of P’s and E’s in distinctive positions. Watch for it.
3) Contractions are obvious, as are the letters at the ends of such words.
4) "A" and "I," as words in themselves, are a little tricky. Look for contractions here too; it should be obvious which letter is which when you spot them.
